From archaeological digging and church documents Klein Zundert appeared to be the first known settlement in the area. In 1157 this village was called Sunderda and there were only a few houses and a few farms. Remnants of the former St Willebrord were excavated in the hamlet of Raamberg.
The bird sanctuary is unique for Klein Zundert. Just outside the village you will find an education centre for nature in an oasis of peace. The main purpose is to let wounded or seized birds recover and then release them. With a little luck you will come across a white tailed eagle or an eagle owl.
